Most children will need some form of medication during their time in school, even if it is only a short course of antibiotics. Other pupils will have long-term or chronic conditions which can fluctuate in severity and these may need careful management, including with the use of medication.

This course provides school staff with the guidance needed to ensure the safety of both staff and children when handling medication in schools. It has been developed to meet the requirements of the UK Government’s “Supporting Pupils with Medical Conditions at School” document.

So as soon as you’re ready, click on ‘How to use this course’ to get started.

FOR TESTING ONLY – USE THIS TO RESET PROGRESS:

This course has been developed in response to the UK Government's guidance on how schools and school staff should support children in their care at school with medical conditions.

It covers the full range of topics shown in the list below.

If you'd like to refer to the Government's original document for further guidance, you'll find the publication "Supporting Pupils at School with Medical Conditions" here (opens in a new window).
